Anyone know how to top up AIS by phone and debit card?

Featured Replies

I went to an AIS today to figure it out. They said it could be done but the language barrier prevented me from understanding how. Anyone know how to do it? All I know now is to use *120 with a prepaid card, but I would prefer to pay via my BKK bank debit card.

I just use one of the myriad of machines dotted around everywhere yellow or blue or red they all accept all the major phone companies numbers for top up. Very easy to do.

If you have Bangkok Bank internet banking you can top-up from there.

IIRC you can also do it from a Bangkok Bank ATM.

Here's one you might try:

https://mobiletopup.com/

very easy with credit or debit card. Can be used for any carrier.

- If you are using a Smart Phone - the myAIS app (in English too) makes payment very easy.  (I use the iOS version, am sure they have it for Android too).

- If via weblink - use the link that JamJar posted -

- Login will be via a one time password (OTP) sent to your phone.

IF you have a bank app, check it for a top-up area.  On my app ( once mobile numbers are saved ) it takes 3 touches to pay any amount to AIS.

I use monthly since I have 4 numbers ( family) to fund, so I named the accounts accordingly.  Each gets different THB top-up.

Actually use transfer feature on my mobile to pay 90% of my bills..some require OTP, others no.

About 30% of the time my balance runs out, it's when I'm using AIS for data, which means no internet or app usage (I tend to use my phone when True Cable Internet goes down). So that's why I was hoping for debit payments over the phone. But anyways I tried using a BKK bank ATM and the test run worked so kudos for that. My next step is to setup auto-debit upon zero balance which will save me from a 500m walk at a crucial moment like an outage during a VOIP call.

Good to know the ATM route still works.

How often does your True go down and roughly how much are you spending on AiS data each month? It may be worth getting one of the small "unlimited" data packages, you're never without data then (and no rushing to the bank).

The "auto debit on zero" looks interesting, where does one find this tit-bit?

Here's the auto debit option: http://www.ais.co.th/12call/en/prepaid-credit-card1-1.html

Requires the typical physical authorizations and paperwork to do on either a CC or bank withdrawal. Seems BKK Bank customers can do part of it via ATM though.

I have a bad habit of just using data without buying a plan. Very costly, tends to drain the 200 or 300 baht I have with very low usage. The right way to do it is to choose their 39 or 49 baht plan for 1.5/3 gb when the net goes out. My net is shaky about 2 days per 2 months on average I would say. That's when I have big issues. There are issues for a couple hours every 2 weeks, this is in Pattaya.

I found AIS to be expensive. They were always charging me for their own advertising messages, and SMS although I tried unsuccessfully to block them several times. I switched to DTAC; best move I've made. The switch at one of DTAC outlets like BigC was automatically carried out overnight and I retained my phone number and all contacts and all automatic BKK bank alerts for a couple of hundred baht including air time that still hasn't been used up.

AIS - forget it.

DTAC doesn't have nearly the coverage of AIS though. AIS is the biggest and I think even government partially owned

Im on Dtac have been for years now so far in all my travels over Thailand i have never been without a signal.
