Moving To Thailand

Featured Replies

hi am planning to move to Thailand with my new Thai wife in March and was wondering how to go about the whole process. She is in the U.K with me at the moment her flight is already booked but do i need a return flight or will i be ok if i brought a single as i have no plans of living in the U.K.

I am working as a commercial diver and will be looking to work offshore so i will be earning. This is all very confusing for me so i would appreciate any help you could give me!

You should obtain a non immigrant O visa. A multi entry type from Hull would serve you for over a year and allow entry/exit at any time but will require exit at no more than each 90 day interval. Your marriage certificate should get the visa. One way ticket should then be fine.

Has the wife been outside Thailand for a year or more? If not you will not have duty free entry for goods so you should probably plan to rid yourself of items before you leave.

I assume you have and will keep a UK bank account. If you wish to use SWIFT transfers be sure to set up permissions before you leave.

No this is the wifes first time outside Thailand but i am crashing at my parents at the moment so not much to get rid of. Can i get the visa i need online or do i need to apply in person?

There is one other thing i had a 1 year visa last year that expired in December, is there a limit on how soon you can get another one?

No limitation and you can do by mail (after downloading forms from web site). Should find easily with Google.

WestEast travel have summer offers at the moment from £305, but thats return.

Normally I travel Eva Air direct, with their economy elite class you get a wider seat more leg room and a leg rest, quite comfortable and usually its approx £250 more than economy.

Hey Joe73

Airline network or Eastwest travel are cheap. Just another thought,if you need to book international AND domestic flights, I use http://www.opodo.co.uk/ all the time when I go home to Surin (LHR>BKK>BFV). Its a lot better and safer than a 7 hour 'big-bus' ride!!! :o:D
