Finance to propose saving packages to working people before retiring 

 

 

The Finance Ministry is preparing to propose its minister a package of measures to promote savings at national level to encourage the people to save their money before reaching retirement ages. 

 

According to the ministry’s permanent-secretary Somchai Sujjapongse, the measures will include giving knowledge on finance to the public which will be the national agenda and to issue new savings products to encourage long term saving.

 

The government has already set up the National Pension Fund in which the workers have to pay for the savings while the employers would contribute into the fund.

 

The scheme is planned to be enforced in 2018 for big companies before expanding to cover all companies in seven years.
