Can I really legally buy a motorbike? Just have a Hawaii d.l. I have one of those nominee companies set up in April to buy a home but its not finished yet so I have no address. can I or should I buy it in the name of the company as someone suggested. my "accountant" said he can do all the paper work for 2500thb. dealer also said this but is it really 'legal.' I also heard if I dont have a Thai drivers license insurance wont cover any accident.

You can register the bike in your name, if you have any kind of visa. All you need is a certificate of living from the immigration. You don't need to have a drive license for registering the bike in your name. But no insurance will cover you if you have any acident. So get a international Driving License or a Thai Drive License. For Driving withoud License you'll get charged with 200 Baht fine if the police give you a ticket. Aproxximatly 50% of the Thai Motorbike drivers have no Drive License. Not a big deal if you not get involved in a accident. But better you fix the Drive License.
