BANGKOK: -- Nen Kham, a former jet-setting monk extradited from the United States to Thailand, was on Monday morning (Sept 18) escorted out of the Bangkok Remand Prison to the Criminal Court for presentation of evidence before setting the trial date.

38-year-old Wirapol Sukphol, formerly known as Luang Pu Nen Kham, has been arrested by US authorities three years after he fled Thailand with police hot on his heels for alleged raping a minor under 15-years-old.

In prison dress, Wirapol was brought in a prison truck to the court room at 9.30am after the court set today as the first day to present evidence before setting the trial date next.

BANGKOK: -- The disrobed monk known for his lavish lifestyle and for raping a minor is finally having his day in criminal court for rape charges stemming from incidents that allegedly happened 17 years ago.

Nen Kham, a former monk who has been stripped of his Buddhist robes and title, pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges of raping a minor at Criminal Court, reported Bangkok Post.

The charges against him state that he illegally took custody of a girl younger than 15 and raped her. The events allegedly began in January 2000 and ended in  mid-2001. He is also suspected of fathering a child with her, though no charges have been filed regarding that suspicion.

Don't you wish the punishment fit the crimes ? Still, I'm sure that orange robe will be lifted a few times in his prison life.

Why isn't the child booked on his conto?

If it is his child, he surely is guilty of sex with a minor?

We all know what he looks like. Why cover his face? :passifier:

In principle, withholding the image of a person charged awaiting trial seems a good idea, making an exception just because everybody knows what they looks like is opening a hornets nest because how do you draw the line (define the exception)? better leaving as all or none.

Feel free to throw this scumbag into some hole for as long as possible.  Then he can work on his Buddhism and meditation practice.  Obviously something he was unable to accomplish as a monk.  Allegedly.  But, where there's smoke......
