The rule is that you MUST get a direct flight from Thailand to your home country when you are ready to be deported. If there IS a direct flight from Bangkok to your country, but, the airline is not from your own country, then, permission must be obtained by the Captain of the flight. He is told that a "criminal" is being deported. Nine times out of ten, the request is refused. Why take a chance when the "criminal" will be un-escorted. Pilots that work for an airline from the home country are legally bound to take one of their fellow citizens back. If there is no direct flight to the home country, but, there is a stop-over and/or a flight change, written permission must be obtained first from that countries authorities. Only when all conditions have been fulfilled and the flight booked, will you be released from IDC and taken to the airport. This presumes that the deportee has the cash and has someone on the outside to run around organizing money and tickets. I spent some time in IDC and without exception, all the Africans had been there for over six months, some over a year and one bloke from The Gambia who had been there more than two years. Thailand has no obligation to hand out visas to anyone, and if people from those countries as a whole tend to be a pain in the ass, they shouldn't and/or don't. If you want to work in Thailand, you need a work permit. The reason is you might be taking work away from thai people. In some cases, where thais don't have the education or knowhow to do certain things, this can be overlooked. But when it comes to selling sex, then these girls are competing with Thai girls.
