Deputy Education Minister encourages student morality

BANGKOK, 25th September 2017 (NNT) – The Deputy Minister for Education has called on children and youths to play a role in developing the nation and urged their teachers to build moral and righteous citizens.

The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) has reported the results of its Righteous School 2017 program, which included a short film competition on the theme of morality and righteousness and student projects on moral development.

After handing out rewards to the short film makers, Deputy Minister of Education ML Panadda Diskul remarked that he wished to see Thai youth grow up to be dependable people who serve their families.

He stated that righteous schools must create graduates with an understanding of morality and ethics, and with the desire to behave in the best interests of society, as such individuals would accelerate Thailand’s progress towards prosperity and peace. He also encouraged teachers to adopt royal teachings and to create citizens ready to work towards fulfilling the Thailand 4.0 agenda.

Yeap, teach those children 'morals'. Teach them to ignore the principal's Mercedes parked front and centre for all to see. Ignore when the principal berates the cleaning staff and some of the teaching staff simply because they can.

Also, you're not gonna learn much during the normal school day, but if you front the cash, you can learn in extra classes after school. Don't do the extra classes and you'll be marked down regardless of your ability or work ethic.

You can 'teach' children all the morals in the world. But if the adults aren't practicing them, the children will subconsciously (or knowingly) just copy what the adults do as it's socially acceptable.

The country needs kids educated to think logically and come to their own opinions, stuff morality as there is little here and in Schools it's just used for control and ignorance.

The recent incidents and behavior of the teachers at CU university gave a fine a fine example of what you mean with "moral and righteous citizens."

Sit down, shut up and do as we say or...

They should try teaching them how to learn and leave morality lessons to the churches and temples.
