BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan reiterated on Monday that the election date could be confirmed only when the organic laws necessary for the event have been put in effect.

He was responding to politicians’ calls at a panel discussion on Saturday for the election date to be fixed.

Prawit rejected the notion that the junta would attempt some sort of “trick” over the date, citing ongoing legal enactment by the Constitution Drafting Commission and the National Legislative Assembly as the prime factor for the election date.

Prawit said that, at this point, there is no critical factor affecting the junta’s road map, and the government also wanted things to proceed as planned.

He also said that, if as many people had speculated, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha wanted to enter politics, he would have to contest the election.

Quite!  The first thing that passed through my mind was why organic farming practices would influence an election date.  It appears that the bovine excrement has not settled in New Zealand from their election this weekend past.  With a multi party system it comes down to who can actually form a functioning government.  Yeah!  We are familiar with that concern.

Poll date will come after organic laws pass.:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

Window Dressing as usual by the junta. If they ever will allow something resembling a democratic election, then only after they have enforced regulations that guarantee that only one of their puppets will become PM.

After all, a proper government might cut their money-grabbing and take over the geese laying golden eggs.

Organic Laws Yes how to grow rice and the conflicts with Thai law after the Supreme court takes it up in  2026 after the farmers have

protested it

Oh yes also the pumpkin organic law Thai pumpkins cannot be sold at certain markets and the farmers need to know this

Only after ALL the farmers can recite the law word for word will an election be held

Im sure the date will be after the organic laws pass. A long time after and by the time an election arrives, half of these military baboons will be fertiliser. Organic of course

More BS TIT

Will use the organic law after the next rice harvest.

Don't they ever get fed up with bullS<<<<<<

More fibs than Pinocchio, its a good job his nose does not grow on every lie but his waste line is

Just love to see photos of this goose. There will be NO election!

Next speech will say the organic laws cannot be voted on until there is a new government elected.

More BS....when will the flow of BS ever cease?

Prawit is correct because no trick is necessary.

Until a new elected PM and nominated Cabinet has been endorsed, Prayut as Chief of NCPO holds the power of Article 44 to legally under the 2017 Constitution do whatever he wants. Orders empowered by Article 44 have constitutional authority and no court can challenge them.

No need for that guarantee. The new constitution defines specific institutions and oversight committees that guarantee the elected government only does what is deemed acceptable.

What does that have to do with an election date to be  set Hang on lets have an election after the united states puts a man on Mars. Good idea the Pm stands for election He will win because when he finishes with all opposition and runs them out of town he should win. Prob the only opposition left will be the Bar Girls party from Pattaya and they will be running on a platform of finding new ways to rip the Farang off
