BANGKOK: -- The compensation for damages from the blockade of the Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports to be demanded from 13 former core leaders of the People’s Alliance for Democracy by the Airports of Thailand was estimated to amount to about a billion baht, including 522 million baht in principal plus 7.5 interest rate for a period of nine years.

AOT managing director Nitinai Sirisamatthakarn said Monday (Sept 25) he expected the company and the former PAD core leaders would have to enter into mediation process to be handled by the Legal Execution Department.

Although AOT is yet to calculate the actual amount of compensation to be paid by the ex-PAD core leaders, he estimated the figure would be around one billion baht based on the 522 million baht set by the court and 7.5 percent interest thereon since December 3, 2008.

Hmm...

So, the Airports of Thailand is able to sue the PAD leaders and win damages of around a billion baht.

The NACC has not been able to BEGIN its case against the PAD in NINE years. NINE years!

And, the NACC is the primary counter-corruption organization in Thailand.

Fills you with confidence, eh?

No double standards, eh?

Double hmm...

Wonder if those of us who were stuffed around by that closure will be entitled to any of the compensation money?

When you have stopped laughing any suggestions how to apply would be interesting.

The ironically labeled democrats are finally going to have to stand trial for their actions in deposing a democratically elected government.

I think I saw some flying pigs in this thread earlier

Wondering what wonderful stuff they are smoking these days at the AOT, seriously.

Nobody ever considered the collateral damage of this sandbox game. Many, many billions of quality tourism Baht were not earned since and will never come back as the customer always has the choice. The way the situation was handled was absolutely unacceptable; first class passengers to Europe got whisked off by individual limousine (the luckier ones) or by coach - to Chiang Mai. Utapao and Bangkok were closed and the whole world was wondering, what happened to Thai aviation in times of peace.

The way that situation was handled was the final straw which broke the tourism's camel of quality tourists back - for good.

And now the sandboxing kiddies are trying to throw sand at each other again - be warned!
