After also been refused a 1 year multi B visa in KL in late December

with company doc’s and WP, I was told that I had to go to immigration

in bkk and an extension multiple visa would be issued by them.

my Thai business partner contacted immigration and apparently a 20

item check list, THE most important item been PAY your tax,

unfortunately this bridge will not be crossed until another month has passed

so fingers crossed and hoping nothing else changes in the interim..

Reading some of the posts of late, I still feel optimistic .

One thing to be aware of is that immigration will not be issuing a visa. They will provide an extension of stay to make the total time one year but if you plan any travel you will require a re-entry permit first. The extension of stay does not allow travel without a re-entry permit.

^On what basis would he be getting an extension of stay of his 90 day b-visa?

My understanding is once that is used up you have to get another unless you have some kind of extenuating circumstance like an injury and hospital stay.

If you show up in KL with your WP in proper order you get the one year visa. If not they give you a 90 day B-visa. Which gives you 90 days to get your poopoo in order. Part of the learning curve I'm afraid.

A non immigrant B visa is the basic visa for any employee and many will obtain one year extensions of stay if they meet immigration requirements for salary. During company start up there are currently problems doing this I believe but there are many who do qualify and never have to obtain another visa or leave Thailand.

I guess I don't understand all the nuance because I did it the proper way and didn't have any hitches getting the one year visa with the WP.

A pal of mine showed up in KL with all his paper work in order but forgot to bring the physical WP. They just gave him a 90 day B and told him to come back next time with his WP along with the paperwork.
