Paul Laycock1
While waiting outside the offices today I noticed a sign saying 200+ day's without an accident, target 365. A smile came across my face as the temptation to change it saying supplied 200 day's of power with 165 day's of power cuts and shortages.

VocalNeal
Hmmm. May one should be happy about the 200 days of power. This is Asia, not Kansas, after all and things happen.
lopburi3
Actually I have experienced fewer power outages here in Bangkok than was my experience in USA. The only cuts here are the dirty power switches where they throw it off for a few seconds a couple of times a week or local transform fuse replacement which is normally done within an hour. Not the multi hour outages that we often had in States.
Paul Laycock1
Come and live in the north east. I have heard every excuse under the sun. It pisses me off that my frozen food defrosts and then refreezes, not healthy.
lopburi3
Having lived in India/Bangladesh/Laos/Guinea/Nigeria/Lebanon/Philippines/China/Japan/Germany for extended periods; and Chiang Mai/Udon/Takhli/Bangkok in Thailand understand the defrosting freezer issues. Suspect would be tempted to get a small generator just for that problem if living upcountry. But here in Bangkok power is really quite reliable all things considered. RichCor
Doesn't Honda make some compact gensets that are relatively quiet, for not too much money? Though, it you really want to protect your frozen food stuff then you'd want an autostart/autotransfer.
KhunBENQ
It seems to highly vary dependent on location. I live in the Isaan sticks and longer power outages have become really rare. Maybe 3 in a year lasting longer than an hour. It must be more than a year that there was a full night outage which is really bad especially in hot weather. But indeed more often there are short interruptions of a few seconds. Annoying when you sit on the computer/internet and some transaction is interrupted. colinneil
We live in the sticks in Issan, very few problems with electric supply. We have had only 2 power cuts in well over a year. ( minutes not hours) Now i rely on electric more than most people, for my electric winches to get me on/off my bed, on/off my mobility scooter. My standby generator has not been used now for more than 2 years. Edited October 16, 2017 by colinneil
Paul Laycock1
Deep joy for you all. I also live in Issan. My post was really about the wording on a sign outside the electric company rather than the amount of power dips and outages although when it goes off it really pisses me off.
