fondue zoo
well, it's that time again Single Entry Tourist visa versus a Non-Immigration O (Thai child) visa, with both allowing for a maximum stay of 90 day, is one better than the other? jeab1980
If you have the necessary paper work. I would say Non o no extension by immigration required.
ubonjoe
I would say the single entry non-o visa is better since you get 90 days without needing to apply for an extension. Plus most locations do not ask for a ticket out of the country to get one. But to get a single entry non-o in Malaysia you need to show financial proof. fondue zoo
Can the single entry non-o visa be extended? Penang is where I'll probably end up going to do this, is there an English language page detailing the documents required for the non-o visa? You should be able to extend at Imm' for 1900 baht I think. I do on my 90 day entries ( multi O ) 60 days, so reckon you can on a single entry as well. Somebody will confirm or deny I'm sure. You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit you child at immigration. You child will need to be with you when you apply. Their is nothing on their website in english and what they have in Thai is links to the department of consular affairs website. You will need you child's birth certificate plus a copy and a copy of their house book registry. You may also need at least 200k baht in a bank to show. ubonjoe
There is no need to have color copies. Your list looks like it is more than enough.
fondue zoo
thank you. I forgot to add the evidence of funds, what will I need for the initial application?
fondue zoo
If I'm reading the various websites correctly there appears to be no proof of funds requirement upon the initial application for this type of visa? Proof of funds is required if I wish to extend the visa as mentioned above. That said having the standard 20k baht on your person is probably a good idea when arriving in Thailand. Not sure what websites you are looking at. There have been reports that they want to see 200k baht in a bank or proof of income for a single entry non-o visa in Penang. In Laos it is not needed. Proof of funds in not required for a 60 day extension. It is only needed for a one year extension based upon being the parent of a Thai.
overherebc
See also latest on Penang they are talking about limiting visa applications to 200 a day. Finance figures seem to be 200k for single 90 day 0 and 400k for multi 0. Edited October 7, 2017 by overherebc
fondue zoo
Does anyone foresee trouble with entry using a new single entry tourist visa with the following history? December 2016 - Visa Exemption 12 days 2017 - SETV + Extension (AIR) 2017 - Visa Exemption + Extension (AIR) Will have evidence of onward flight, accommodation and 20k Baht in hand. Also, as above but using another Visa Exemption?

It would be better to get a visa, though, especially if the time out of Thailand before reentry is very short.
