Thai masseuses urged not to work in Sri Lanka on tourist visa

BANGKOK, 6 October 2017 (NNT) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has warned Thai masseuses looking for work in Sri Lanka to make sure they have obtained a legal work permit.

MFA Spokesperson Busadee Santipitaks urged Thai masseuses traveling to Sri Lanka to double check if the employment documents issued to them by their employers are legal.

According to the Thai embassy in Colombo, many Thai women were refused entry to Sri Lanka from 2015-2016 because they failed to present a legal work permit to the immigration officers.

Busadee then asked all workers to consult the Department of Employment of Thailand to make sure that their potential employers are not scammers.
