Six villages in Tambon Wang Lum of Phichit’s Taphan Hin district were submerged on Monday morning following a flood from Phetchabun Mountain Range’s forest runoffs. Residents of some 300 affected homes were in need of aids.

The densely populated Soi Wang Din Niew was under 30cm- to 50cm-deep floodwater, prompting residents to move belongings to higher ground and brace for more deluge as rainfall continued. Officials were surveying the flood damage and warning people of more rainfall to come later this week.

Wang Lum is a water retention area, and its canal would normally receive water from the Phetchabun Mountain Range flowing through the upstream Thab Khlo district's Klong Wang Daeng.

Water from Wang Lum canal then flows into the Nan River in Taphan Hin and Bang Mun Nak. Recent heavy downpour in the mountain range have caused forest runoffs to flood people's homes and farmlands, including rice fields with mature plants that would be damaged by a prolonged flood.
