I've seen plenty video's of it.....they all got 500 baht.

You cant call foul on one party giving their voters money and ignore the other, they were both doing it, but giving someone some money or a lift to a polling station does not ensure they vote for you anyway, better give them a free healthcare system, new schools, roads, electricity and running water if you want to secure their vote, that's how Thaksin did it.

Thailand 2047. "Maaassage? Where you go? I go with you."

Thailand 2047. Foreigners, from Thais, also called Farrang have realized that LOS is a rip off country and they go to other destinations where they're welcome and wanted. No more I love you too much, then. And no more cash for all.

Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia are more developed than Thailand in 2047.

The 30 baht card wasn't Thaksin's idea at all. Nor did he build new schools, and what has electricity and water to do with it?

Without technology and automatisation thailand will go nowhere.

There are no real technicians in Thailand, no good ones at least. "made in Thailand" stands for broken in a week.

Technical students even can't speak english, not even the university degree ones. The other ones like to fight eachother with machete's.

Also all the monopolies drive prices up where the already rich families make the profit. It's sad to see fathers of families spending so much income on beer and cigarettes and getting nothing back from it.

They even can't buy new citybuses for Bangkok while they have the money ready ( i assume)...

Many Bangkokians spend several hours in traffic each day again, just to go to work.

And the skytrain is too expensive with the priceraise from almost 50% lately.

Nothing gets improved, life only gets more expensive with the same lousy quality.

Hardly the case.  Thailand has the second highest number of tourist visits per year in Asia, after China.

Yes my wife's family received financial handouts from the Demacrats but they didn't vote for them, they were also offered money and a free whistle to go to Bangkok and support Suthep.

It's not impossible that TH will reach "developed country" status in 20 years, but it's not something you can actually plan.

Lee Kuan Yu did it for Singapore in about that frame of time.

It's called having a truly great leader lead the country, and said leader must not get kicked out by these jealous types.

As for me, I'll believe it when I see either 1) Even 10% of Thais in any given public space reading a book/kindle instead of LINE/FB/vid games

or 2) a critical mass of Singaporeans and Malaysians coming here to look for work (vs. being placed through their own multinationals)

Countries that have a coup every 4 years on average do NOT become developed. It's the antithesis of development. So if Thailand is lagging behind, this is one of the main reasons...along with a multitude of cultural ones. There are plenty of smart people here. But is they are not rich or connected, they get pushed to the side. When the best person is put into a job, then the country will develop.

Thailand introduced universal coverage reforms in 2001 when Thaksin was PM.  Don't let your bias change history please.

Thaksin initiated two key healthcare policies: subsidized universal health care and low-cost universal access to anti-retroviral HIV medication (ARVs). Thaksin's 30-baht/visit universal healthcare program won the applause of the general public, but was criticized by many doctors and officials.
Prior to the program's introduction, a large portion of the population had no health insurance and limited access to healthcare. The program helped increase access to healthcare from 76% of the population to 96% of the population.

You can have as many NESDB plans extending over as many decades as you like, with as many "S curve bases" and as much digital technology as you can imagine, but until you give your people the incentive to, and the freedom to improve their lot, they will not do so, and Thailand will not move out of the economic and political rut it is stuck in.

Until, eventually, the people decide they have had enough, and take those freedoms and opportunities by force.

Then, Thailand will move forward. How rapidly depends on how much damage is done...

So also you didn't understand who called for the coup??

We're not allowed to discuss the subject in Thailand....

If we're not allowed to discuss the subject, why are you then, consistently?

Is it because you have realised that, jolly conveniently, no one can challenge or argue with your assertion?

Great ! Evidence !  Why were not any arrests made ?  Is it illegal ?  Were the videos proven to be real , or was somebody just handing out money ?   These allegations are made all the time, but no arrests are ever carried out.

Thailand is not going anywhere until they higher standards of education, embrace foreign tech workers, and mete out justice fairly for all.

do you have a road map and does it include a coup every five years?

What if it was an acronym instead which meant something positive like Colloquy Operative Uniting Politics. Surely a C.O.U.P. every 5-years would then be okay?

IMHO that would sound BS enough to spin the necessary facts without affecting the GDP and have the UN with their knickers in a veto.

It's true that 'certain' things cannot be discussed here (openly) and who gave that order?  the ammart who control everything here. Until those dinosaurs die out there is no progress.

After my initial shock, I actually came to the conclusion that in a way it is completely possible. They will simply change the definition of "developed".

Simply another catchphrase that can be twisted until unrecognisable, but as long as it meets their needs, no problem.

All 4 improved the lives of his electoral base significantly. Yes he was responsible for implementing them. That is why, in person or by proxy he keeps winning elections. That is why we now have a military junta governing the country. To stop him, in person or by proxy, winning elections.

These plans will change nothing.

Thailand has delusions of adequacy. The Thai economy is targeted to expand 4-5% over the next 30 years, what could possibly go wrong ? In the words of old British PM Macmillan, ''Events old boy, events''.

probably mean "by 30 years it would have expanded 5%" lol That's more achieveable that 5% per year. But Thailand is too proud to take notes from development in Vietnam (6.2%) or Philippines (6.92%). Thailands rate is 3.2% for the same time (2016).

Thailand is 60 years from being a developed nation.  It is mediaeval in its thinking allowing Hi-sos to lord it over the serfs.  The rule of law is barely implemented and then only selectively.  Thai police are the nouveau-riche.  Packs of wild dogs roam unchecked.
The daily slaughter on the roads continues unabated.  There is little effective education unless you are rich and live in a city.

This man's delusional thinking is typical of the ruling classes.

They only need to look to Singapore to see what they absolutely must do to reach their goal.  Tackle corruption head on and deal with it.  Sort out the tax laws so that all pay.  Evolve a fair social security and health system for all people. Open their borders to foreign investment and make immigration and settlement easier.  Democracy, as practised in the West, is not necessary and clearly does not suit LOS, but they need a fair constitution and the Military need to be involved,  but back off.  Remove the ability for the Military to be involved in any commercial activity so that they are dependant on the constitutional government for funds.  Do all this and they may have a chance, don't do these things and it will never happen. .
