Pheu Thai figure’s flower ‘campaign’ inappropriate: Prawit

Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan on Monday rebuked key Pheu Thai figure Sudarat Keyuraphan’s public invitation for people to plant and deliver calendula flowers during the funeral of His Majesty the late King, saying the campaign was not appropriate.

Sudarat was seen on social media riding a vehicle advocating the planting of calendula flowers and their delivery for the King’s funeral.

The Deputy PM said Sudarat’s campaign was merely self promotion. People should know that this was not an appropriate time to engage in any political activities and they should use their judgment, Prawit said.

Prawit said he wated to emphasise that such an activity could not be held. He would send officers to talk to Sudarat about appropriateness while urging other politicians to refrain from similar activities.

I guess that ban on political activities might stay in force for a little while longer ?

They really are scared of the competition :)

Strange, the local Govt has been planting yellow flowers everywhere along the roadside in all the local villages where we live and that hasn't been deemed inappropriate.

The most surprising thing about this story is that there are still Pheu Thai's on the loose. I thought that the Junta would have already disposed of all of them?

That's rich, coming from Prawit; the Junta would of course never, ever conduct such self-promotion.

First it was sandwiches no it's flowers to become a political issue are these people all brain dead?

As Prawit often demonstrates...

I'm with the 'Tumbler' on this one- the woman was trying to politicize an event that should remain neutral. Crocodile tears afterwards mean nothing- it's about the intent. She has previous for being shameless.

BANGKOK — Electoral contenders waving to crowds from atop speaker trucks are common sights during election season.

But many found it incongruous with this month’s pitched mourning for the late King Bhumibol when veteran politician Sudarat Keyuraphan did so Sunday at an event dedicated to the late monarch.

Prawn knows she is going to towel him and his cronies up in the election.

The militaries days of riding roughshod over this country are well and truly numbered.
