BANGKOK, 17 October 2017 (NNT) – The Ministry of Labor is continuing to utilize the Pracharat mechanism to drive the Safety Thailand policy.

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare Tossapol Kriwongwiman said that Minister or Labor Gen Sirichai Distakul has handed down policy for the creation of a public and private network to drive the Safety Thailand and Safety Culture policies.

Under the policies, the department is to support public and private offices, state enterprises and community organizations in understanding and managing intra-organizational safety and to disseminate the concepts to the wider public.

Tossapol explained that a Safety Week event set to take place is to drive the state’s Safety Thailand and Safety Culture agendas and will include activities where administrators and staff will learn about how to improve their safety and those responsible for addressing dangerous situations. The ultimate goal of the effort is to improve the safety and health of the nation’s workforce.

Gotta start somewhere,  It's gonna take a while though.

it will be all talk and no action

I think the heads of departments just spout anything, just to let

the Government know they are there.and look like they are doing something.

I dispute that! There will be plenty of breathtaking action around the "eat-all-you-can" seafood buffet lunches at the many Safety Thailand and Safety Culture agendas and meetings and conferences.

sounds like more fake news,   from one of the many Troll Farms in Thailand.

Safety and Health of Thai work force. Does this include all the forced cheap labour from Thailand's neighbours or just the small percentage of Thai Nationals that actually work. Even if they just concentrated on Thai drivers that drive for a living this would be a mammoth task.

A national workman's compensation and health care program would be more meaningful.

wait guys... let's first hear official announcement from the state flip flop monopoly

As a reactive solution yes, I agree.

How about introducing proactive measures?

Introduce legislation that will make it a criminal offence for managers AND company directors who fail to comply with safety requirements that result in a serious injury or fatality. Lock up a couple of high flyers and the rest will take notice very, very quickly.

Forget about trying to crucify the local on-the-job foreman/supervisor....go after the real bad guys who don't care about worker safety and who simply budget for fatalities as part of their business model.
