There is an archived thread 'where to sell high end watches ?'....

As the thread was archived I couldn't 'bump' it... however, I am wondering if anyone has any updated information on selling high end watches in Thailand or shipping internationally.

On the archived thread norrona in post #22 mentioned an 'eBay scam' whereby the buy sends (returns) an empty parcel to the sender establishing a return paper trail which is supported by eBay / PayPal in claims for a refund whereby the buyer gets the watch and their money back !...

On the archived thread Lazygrourtmet in post #25 also suggests 'don't sell it, pawn it' - I am curious if any others have taken this route in selling their high end watch and achieving reasonable prices.

Thus my question is... Where to sell my watches that I simply no longer use  ?

.....such as.... Rolex / Panerai / Frank Muller / Bell & Ross / Tag Hueuer  ?

Central world and mbk have a good selection of dealers who specialise in pre owned high end watches.Central world I believe the shops are or were on the same upper floor as the main banks.Mbk it’s the walk in entrance from the sky train level I seem to see the most dealers.
When dealing with small high value goods it’s best to deal in person with a shopkeeper than a stranger.
Take your id and insist on photos of your watch and serial numbers together with the buyer so their are no misunderstandings later.

Try bahtsold.com

Yep... The watches are already listed on Baht&Sold...

Ebay is limited to a maximum value of £10,000 for the first 30 days after which the value of sales can increase to £15,000... thus just two watches are currently listed there.

Has anyone any experience of selling through Chrono24 and similar companies ?

Crown and Caliber have informed me that they cannot sell through their second hand sales website because sales of watches originating outside the US and Canada include high imports taxes, customs fees and insurance cost.

Thanks for the input.

It is the Second hand Watch shops in Central World who have made exorbitantly low offers.

The difference between their buy valuation and sell price of the same Model is huge !

I guess they have to cover their costs / shop rental and staff fees and if they only sell one watch per month they may do this.

I've yet to go to the second hand watch dealers in MBK but will give them a try.

Having done similar here in Europe, I always made a point to never do any transaction by the post service.

Second, always had the potential buyer examine the watch during daylight, in the premises of my bank with full security, CCTV all over.

Upon sale, to avoid fake bills, always made it clear to the buyer that the money would be deposited immediately, in his/her presence at the cash counter and then the watch handed over.

Many refused these conditions, quite suspicious, and it was a good riddance. Those who accepted, the sales went on smoothly, no issues...

Best of luck and be cautious when handling such items of large value. And make sure you give if possible an office address and never your home address.

Watchfinder in the UK will give you an online offer on your watches and it may be worth the flight to bring them to the UK to sell them,Watchfinder have a few shops now and are offering good prices.
