Calling UK

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone.

What is the best and cheapest way to call to the UK from Thailand? True used to have an 'Inter' sim card that cost 1baht per minute, but that service is now discontinued.

Is there another sim card that has reasonable international call charges?

I already have LINE and Skype, but I need to be able to call a landline.

Many thanks for your help.

You can call a landline from SKYPE, you need to buy credit on SKYPE first. I use Skype every month to call landlines in the UK and normally it is very good, clear.

Agreed - here is a link to the rates for the OP - https://secure.skype.com/en/calling-rates?expo365=bundled

I think it may have just gone up as I am sure landline charge (ex. the connection charge) used to be 1.4p per minute?

Get a cat card cheap as chips to phone the UK landline but more expensive if you phone to a mobile.no problem if you phone with a mobile.

With an ais sim I used to get cheapish calls to uk using a prefix of 00500 and then number using intl prefix also. It was ok but I came a cropper with the non regional numbers 08457 etc. Started blasting through credit. Aproximately 1500 per month.

About 3 months ago I decided to fix that and used this forum to find out how.

Skype is the way to go. Yesterday I topped up for my 2nd time. First top up was £20 I got 280 minutes of call time out of that and the regional numbers are also very low cost now. Skype vs whatsapp for me has been a big call quality difference. Skype being of better quality IMO. Much better.

I should also point out that the 280 minutes were all international calls and spread out through 4-5 countries. Canada, Germany,  UK, Netherlands and Italy.
