Tour group left stranded at airport take pictures outside the police station instead of Japan!

A large group of tourists left stranded at Suvarnabhimi airport posted pictures of their "trip" to Hokkaido outside the airport police station.

The 61 tourists from Korat were supposed to be enjoying four days in Northern Japan but their group tour leader had disappeared after telling them to go and check-in.

Then the staff at the Thai Airways desk said they had no record of their reservations.

The 61 people are all employees of a company in Nakorn Ratchasima. They booked a tour with a company they had dealt with before.

The tour included transfer from the north eastern gateway town to Bangkok by tour bus.

One of the victims Nathacha told Sanook that when they reached the airport the tour leader told them to check in at the THAI counter and no tickets were needed.

But the staff at the counter were confused as there was no booking. When the group tried to find the tour leader they were nowhere to be seen. Calls to their mobile went unanswered.

So they went to the police. They arrested a helper on the trip who was helping them with their enquiries.

In the meantime the stranded group posed for holiday snaps outside the airport police station....

I think the tour company has been helping themselves too much !

Removed a troll post.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Why this tour leader felt the need to go to Suvarnhabhumi before doing a runner is beyond me. Surely they had paid in advance for the itinerary!

Not just a scammer, but a sadist to let them go all the way to the check in counter.

Maybe they paid cash at the airport for their bookings.

The article states they paid over 3 months in installments.

But the scammer is an idiot, send the bus to pick them up but why not just get a stooge to accompany them to the airport and leg it with the loot a few days before.

Well, maybe a lack of logic and common sense is to blame...

Even in times of sadness there is always time for a Facebook moment.

Maybe his boss just forgot to book the tour and told him at last minute to scarper. Made up some BS about not getting paid.

It could be worse, they could of lost their phones

Wasn't there a similar case several months ago, again the destination was Japan.

Copy-cat crime?

Best to check reservations yourself with agents here!

This type of chicanery is a perennial in the Land of Scams, right up there with the gem and tuk-tuk caper and the labour agents who arrange non-existent jobs abroad for a fat fee, for up-country innocents.
