Video: Are Thai police "fit" for purpose - national chief finds out!

National police chief Jakthip Chaijinda was on a tour of duty on Sunday when he noticed a rather rotund man walking in the area of the police station he was inspecting.

The fatty was asked if he was a policeman and when told by the man that he was an investigator on his day off asked him if he could do press-ups.

The man was then ordered to do some exercises before the chief left in his car.

Video of the incident at Pa Moke station in Ang Thong is being viewed across social media.

Now i understand why the thai police doesn't have patrolcars and only can stand at checkpoints on the roads...all the money went into that Benz.

"The fatty was asked if he was a policeman and when told by the man that he was an investigator....."

A lot of breakins at Dunkin Donuts by the look of things.

What was he doing *hanging around* on his day off, on a scheduled inspection?

Asking for trouble....

Nice benz .. :shock1:

Obviously,  he has spent a lot of his service time in an "inactive post !" :cheesy: :cheesy:

Can't wait for the chief  to rationalize driving a Benz 500.

agreed; not interested in whether he can do pressups; more whether he can do his job to any positive standard

The problem here is not the fat boy, who can at least do 4 press ups, which is probably more than most BIB's can manage, but the shiny and expensive imported car 'provided' for the police chief, who also has a big soft belly on him.

Chauffeured in a Benz.. well paying job.

I am thinking 400,000-500,000 per month salary on each of his tax returns.

Leave them alone.... they get enough exercises while on duty starching

their arms and hands getting those 100 baht banknotes...

I really hope the journo behind the use of “fatty” in this story gets pulled over by the policeman he describes as such...

The Chief is a bit slouched himself, belly sticking out further than his chest.

I don't understand the on-the-spot press up test.  Is there a periodic physical fitness test for police?  Looking at the investigator, doesn't appear to be any body fat benchmarks either.

He was there for the canteen, they have such nice fatty snacks there and much cheaper than along the road.

Who needs “hazing” rituals when you have bosses prepared to randomly humiliate their employees.

Be proud, you probably have some shares in it :w00t:

Needs a very big blanket for him to investigate under cover.

He's current;y investigating "Who ate all the Pies!"

Anyone care to investigate the chiefs annual salary vs expenditure?

The "fatty". ..referring to an overweight person. I think this reporter is in the wrong job...should apply for a position in the West Wing.

A bad day for the RTP image all around.  A top cop should set a non materialistic example, but it is easier to snooze in a benzy than in a patrol car.

The larger the jeans the larger the pockets criteria met  .

Well, when you've got a big nail, you need a big hammer.

The customary unmarked Toyota with the number plates identifying it as a Honda Wave was not available...

Depends on what your definition of "purpose" is (not the definition of "fit"). So, I counted three pushups. Did the Chief say "Get down and give me three!"? I'd love to see a transcript in English of their dialogue? Anyone?

physically and mentally  ??

Before the chief delves into the question of fitness, perhaps he should be more concerned with the purpose of the Thai police. Since the police don't engage in law enforcement, what exactly is the purpose of these folks? If there is no purpose, does fitness really matter?
