A man who earlier in the day had shot his district official wife in Nong Bua Lamphu begged police to shoot him dead after he was captured.

A member of the public had had his suspicions aroused after seeing Suradech Chaithisan, 41, in a pick-up under a tree in the Phochai area of the northern Thai province.

Police arrived last night and surrounded the suspect before making a charge of the pick-up.

Suradech had a gun with him with one bullet in the chamber. A further five bullets were found in the dash.

At dawn on Wednesday he had shot his wife Suwika Phrommin.

He admitted the crime and said he was going to kill himself too. He had written two suicide notes. He was drunk.

He admitted everything and begged the police to shoot him.

The Nong Bua Lamphu cops said he had earlier tried to rent a room at a nearby resort but it was full. He had then fallen asleep while drunk by a bridge under a tree.

His wife was a district official in the area.

He was drunk.

Oh, OK, 500 baht and  a wai to the family of the deceased if he can be dragged out of the bar.

A state similar to "affluenza" perhaps?

It's sad that some Thais first taste of consequences for their actions comes after murder over some trivial matter.

Alcohol + hot head + no sense of consequences = misery for everyone involved.

I wonder if maybe once or twice this chap had been directly criticised when he was younger, even going against "maintaining social harmony" or "saving face", whether this story might have a happier ending.

Another  murder committed by a National

Calm down Lad; you'll be out on bail in no time for a small fee !

It has become an everyday news.
