Kim Kwang Dong, director of the Foundation for Broadcast Culture of South Korea, second from right, poses with representatives of television stations in Thailand at a seminar in Bangkok on Thursday.

The Foundation for Broadcast Culture of South Korea (FBC) plans to broadcast Thai content in South Korea, its director told a recent seminar.

Kim Kwang Dong, director of the FBC, a major shareholder of Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Television network from South Korea, said that Korean TV programmes or series have generated a lot of interest and become a part of Thai broadcasting.

“In the future, we are also prepared to receive content from Thailand to broadcast in Korea,” he said.

“This is good news for the two countries – to share content and information that would lead to the development of the television industry,” he said at the “2017 Seminar on Broadcasting Exchange between Thailand and Korea” held for the first time in Bangkok on Thursday.

At the seminar, there were many discussions on the situation of the television industry in both countries. The topics covered included the conversion of digital television due to the influence of Internet on broadcasting, as well as exchange of broadcast content between Thailand and South Korea.

In recent years, Thailand has been influenced by the K-WAVE trend and has bought a lot of copyright from Korea. The seminar was told about the possible broadcast of Thai content in South Korea. There are also discussions on co-production of a drama series by the two countries as well as other TV programmes.

Kim said that South Korea could help Thailand cope with the difficulty in the transition from analog to digital by exchanging broadcast content.

So in reality both countries are going to show each other’s content.

Korean in Thailand is already happening (and has been for some time) now and Thai in Korea later.

Maybe...

I wonder will South Korea be broadcasting PM Prayut's congenial weekly "fireside"chat with his people. His singsongs and poetry recitals should put the cartoon ratings through the roof.
