Would that be the classic usage of "sad", as in somber, or would it be the definition currently in vogue which is "what a dick you are for saying something like that"? TIA for a clarification. It appears to be part of a newfangled set of emoticons, often integrated into forum software, not something from the current full emoji list of the Unicode Consortium.
