November 15, 20178 yr I'm no expert, but anything ' universal fit' usually doesnt fit / needs modification . If it hangs off the door , expect problems with door hinges or worse . You need the weight equally both both sides of the door frame . I intend buying a 35 " length of 2" dia alloy tube and a 2" hole saw . I will drill holes either side into the frame just below top of door opening, then feed in the tube...should have about 1.5" engagement either side into the frame . To stop it spinning either bond in place or have some dowells/ bolts, one either side going horizontally through the tube at each end.. There are 2 or 3 ways I can think of that you could do this bit. I assume you own your home? .. As a rented room etc the owner wouldnt be happy with you drilling holes...Though arguably the centre cores from the hole saw operation could be put back in the door frame later and maybe never even notiticed. Either way very minimal redecoration.
