The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) Director General, Chatuporn Burutpat, along with his team, visited Patong Beach to follow up on the cigarette prohibition now in force on the famous tourist beach. 26 smoking spots were set up along the 3 kilometre stretch of beach by Patong Municipality last week.

The Director General and Patong Mayor, Chalermluck Kebsup, visited the area and talked with beach goers as well as business operators nearby yesterday (November 13) to check on the progress on the 90-day pilot project before the official law enforcement comes into full force on February 1, next year.

But any hit n run perp (depending who he/she is) can negotiate a price to make merit.....TAT:ph34r:

At least it is out in the open, better than the plastic box in Pattaya.

Of course allowed to drink, even alcohol and just throwing away any bottles in the open. Let's have more plastic bottles on the beach. Glass maybe even better, so you can cut yourself and die loosing your blood. How many tons of garbage on

Hua hin Beach gathered by soldiers in a week? Yha right 100 tons.

"How many tons of garbage on Hua hin Beach gathered by soldiers in a week? Yha right 100 tons".

But hardly any of it dumped by beach-goers.

Nice BIG sign of "smoking area". Show me a bigger sign in areas of "non smoking" Bet its the size of a bus ticket and below that it states 100,000 Bah fine or ten years gaol or in smaller print it says, "Negotiate with the smoking cop 200 Bah" Bring a magnifying glass to Thailand beaches is my suggestion to tourists to read all the rules.

Well the Chinese and Russian tourists do not appear to read the present beach rules re no swimming etc so come febuary this will be hilariuos watching them all being rolled for the Ciggie fund
