slight confusion over days

I have a non immigrant o visa that expires at the end of January, as I am going upcountry for a few weeks (exmas / new year )

I was going to start the extension of stay based on retirement, but I have read I can only apply with between 45 and 30 days

left on my non immigrant o   is this correct and if so what is Jomtien ? or can I ask for an earlier extension as I get back a week

into January and only have 21 days inc Sat/Sunday to complete and do not want any problems.

You can apply for the extension up to 30 days early. There is no minimum number of days to do it.

No problem to apply with only 21 days remaining.
