Tender armpit lymphnode for 1 month.

Featured Replies

I noticed my lymph node was tender 1 month ago. I went to a hospital in Bulgaria and ran blood tests and an ultrasound, both coming back normal. The swollen lymph node is still there 1 month later. Any recommendations on doctor/hospitals in Bangkok to have a check up? Thanks.

A few questions to help me pinpoint who best doctor would be for this:

1. Prior to when you first noticed this, had you had any type of infection or injury that you were aware of? In particular, anything on the hand or arm or chest?

2. Any fevers?

3. Was it confirmed by doctors in Bulgaria that this is a lymoh node and not a cyst or other?

4. I take it just this one location and no other areas? No palpable lympoh nodes on your neck, for example?

5. Assume you are male, correct?

Thanks much for taking an interest, Sheryl. This is my 35 year old son.

No infection, cut, or anything on my entire body. I had a slight fever when it first happened. I had been traveling through the cold rain in Romania for a month before symptoms.

The doctors in Bulgaria said that it was the lymph node that was swollen.

No other lymph nodes on my body are swollen or tender.

I am a male.

The Bulgarian doctor said everything looked normal, but to come back in a month for observation. I'm now in Thailand so looking for a good doctor/hospital to go to.

Thanks so much Sheryl!

Rally123: I'll read up on that link. Thanks!

Given that it has persisted for a month and there is no obvious cause, it may be necessary to biopsy, probably can be  done by Fine Needle Aspiration.

Since the causes to be excluded include both infectious (e.g. TB) and non-infectious I think it best you start with a good GP. I recommend Dr Nick Waters at Mission Hospital, he is an American doctor licensed to practice in Thailand.

He will do thorough physical exam and history, might refer you to someone else at same hospital for the actual FNA or might do it himself, not sure.
