PHUKET: Acting police-inspector general of the Royal Thai Police Gen Suchart Teerasawat has issued an order to transfer four Phuket police officers to Bangkok, active today (Nov 18).

The latest order comes following an order issued on Monday (Nov 13) for six officers to also be transferred off of the island.

According to speculation from a Phuket police source, the transfer may be related to a seafood restaurant clampdown, which had associations to a senior police officer in Bangkok.

"The transfers are severely affecting the morale of Phuket Police....."

I bet they are, not to mention the affect on their bank balances.

The long long time corruption in Patong, and also Chalong, has at last become headline news. Sadly will not stop the big corruption....

They will not be missed in Patong.

unless I've got mixed up this is the second Patong chief to be moved within the past couple of months. Looks like the trigger is being pulled on the smoking gun.

And the nature of the "..associations to a senior police officer in Bangkok." are???  :whistling:

Or must we not talk about this, because the 'low hanging fruit' has now been harvested?

Transfer to Bangkok where they can perform their duties or next step no transfer just

demotion or fired.  We can only hope this is the procedure for these guys.

Geezer

Corruption is okay as long as it's a 'business model' and it's part of the 'culture'. Well, there's not a single good argument for corruption in any society of culture that shows how it benefits the many. It absolutely doesn't. It only benefits the very few. And the very few are the very people who make the rules and then call it the 'culture'. Well, them and people who don't understand how detrimental corruption is in society.

Less corruption means more money for everyone else. More money for everyone else means a better standard of living. A better standard of living means more happiness. It kinda develops. Anyone who understands how bad corruption is but still won't condemn it because it's part of the 'culture', has no right to complain about anything.
