george Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Police seek help from public to step up security BANGKOK: -- Police in the capital are seeking help in keeping the city safe from security threats, Metropolitan Police spokesman Colonel Pinit Maneerat said Saturday. They have asked the public, government officials and volunteers to be on alert for security threats. Pinit said the police and Army did not have the manpower to comprehensively cover and thoroughly protect the entire city, Pinit said. "The duty of the police is not protecting the public only but to alert the public to dangers about it and to encourage people to protect themselves," he said. -- The Nation 2007-01-14
