BANGKOK, 23 November 2017 (NNT) – The Royal Gazette has promulgated an order from the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) transferring Somkiat Prajamwong from his post as Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department (RID) to serve as the Director of the Department of Water Resource Management.

Order number 52 of this year was made to reform water management in the nation for greater efficiency and was made using Article 265 of the Constitution as well as Article 44 of the temporary Constitution. It was approved by all members of the NCPO.

Based on the order, Somkiat will vacate his post at the RID and assume a full-time role at the Department of Water Resource Management, which is under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office.

The order also removed Thongplew Kongchan from his position as Deputy Director-General of the RID and promoted him to Director-General.

All changes according to the order have now taken effect.
