Convert TR Visa to a Non-Imm B for work without leaving Thailand? Possible?

Featured Replies

I am currently in Bangkok on a Single Entry 60 day Tourist Visa that I have just extended for 30 more days=90 days total.

I was offered a job by a Thai Company  (Skilled position not teaching.) They will sort the work permit they said.

Is it possible to now switch my Tourist Visa to a Non-Imm B Visa without leaving the country?

If I understand correctly, Section 3.3 of this particular website http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15388-Non-Immigrant-Visa-"B"-(for-Business-and.html) says it is possible?  However, anyone I talk to that has dealt with work permits says it is not possible?

Is there a definitive answer?  Or is it up to the Imm.Officer on the day?

Thanks in advance for any and all constructive advice.

It is possible if you have at least 15 days remaining on the 30 day extension you have now. But the requirements to do it at immigration are more stringent than at an embassy or consulate.

Requirements are here: https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_72
