Chonburi Immigration visa exempt extension.

Hi,

Just back from Chonburi immigration to extend a visa exempt entry. I know its the start of high season so I was prepared for more people than usual and having done many extensions in the past I know the procedure and all the forms  and photo copies to make etc.

Arrived at immigration at 1.30pm stood in line to get my number, the girl checked all my papers and passport, then gave me a number on a yellow card and was told I needed to get my TM30 done, I was directed to the left room, where normally the photocopies were done. There must have been at least 30 people waiting, Thais and Foreigners.

In previous times I have done these extensions you get a number to wait for the immigration officer, then when your number is called, they take of everything, not this time.

So I waited my turn to get the TM30 sorted out, took over 1 hour waiting. Some people in front of me having to pay 1,600 baht fines. Came to my turn and I thought I would have to pay as I had arrived on 7th Nov and I had heard you need to register within 24 hrs. I own my condo, so I am the Housemaster as they put it.

However the girl was very nice didn't ask for any fine, she filled in the bottom of the form stamped it and stapled it in my passport.

Then I had to line up again to get my visa extension, the good news was there were only 3 people in front of me. So that only took around 15 minutes. Total time was around one and a half hrs though, because of the TM30. The place was pretty full as I expected, but the IO's were very nice and professional.

I did react to what you were saying.. that you expected there to be crowdy in the immigration in Jomtien due to the upcoming holiday..

 

I did found it strange because normally when I expect to have a lot of people coming the very same day as myself I usually will be at the immigration upon opening-time in the morning i.e. hrs. 08.30..

NOT coming like you at hrs. 01.30......
