onera1961
I am going to Thailand in December 15, 2017 on a SE Tourist Visa from the US. The visa is valid till March 1 (Enter before March 1) I am assuming I will be give 2 months stay. So, I can stay till Feb 15. I have to leave for Hong Kong on December 22, 2017 for some urgent work. I will return to Thailand again on Jan 1, 2018. Can I get a reentry permit to keep my tourist visa valid? Because I want to extend my tourist visa by 30 -days and then change it to a Non-O for a possible retirement extension.
elviajero
You are given 60 days, not 2 months. Day 1 is the day you arrive regardless of the time you enter the country. Day 60 would be Feb 12th. Yes you can get a re-entry permit. It costs 1,000 baht. When you return from Hong Kong you'll be given permission to stay until Feb 12th. onera1961
On my first entry on Dec 15, I will be allowed to stay until Feb 12th On my second entry on Jan 1 (using the re-entry permit) I will still be allowed to stay until Feb 12, not Feb 28 (60-days from Jan 1). Bottom line I have to get an extension of 30 days before Feb 12. Does the extension starts from Feb 12 or the day I go to immigration office? Using the re-entry permit you will be stamped in until February 12th. The extension will start from the 12th not the date you apply. You can do it a couple of weeks early and lose no days.
