Pracha Rat markets open in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai province on Tuesday launched Pracha Rath markets, with one serving the entire province in front of the Government Office Complex and 25 district-level ones, as part of the government’s efforts to boost vocational opportunities for farmers, low-income earners and people without access to market space.

Sixteen people fined during Phuket beach inspections

PHUKET: Army officers, police and municipality officials inspected beaches at Kata, Karon and Patong yesterday (Dec 5) fined a total of 16 beach management offenders under the orders of Col Santi Sakuntanark, Commander of the 25th Infantry Regiment and the highest-ranking army officer stationed in Phuket.

Residents return as floods recede in Narathiwat

Mum put ‘naughty’ girl in chains ‘to protect her’

A 33-year-old Myanmar woman, who received officials’ warning for putting her seven-year-old daughter in chains in front of their apartment in Phuket’s Muang district, claimed she did so out of love and caring because the “naughty” girl could be harmed or run over by a car, officials said.
