Hi all

My first post on this forum. My name is Paul and my wife is Da (Sukanya) i am 33, Da is 31. We live in North Manchester.

We are planning to move to Thailand in 5/10 years time, depending on the usual things mainly money. We would like to move over there with some small business ventures in place. Krisina trees, 2400 ordered ready for us to plant this july. Da has some land on a canal which is ideal for a small resort. Also, Da is aiming for a teaching degree so she can open a small english launguage school. We have other business ideas which have small captial investment £10k up to £60 k for the resort. We want to get alot of these in place or ready to start up for when we make the move.

We have a house that we can rent out in the uk (something for me to come back to if need be) We (Da) will own a building plot on a Supali estate in a years time, house should be built ready for when we move over.

I need to know what direction to take in order to secure any assets or partnerships from investment in LOS.

Can i set up a limited company that is being developed or do i need to wait untill it is trading?

I presume that none related businesses have to have seperate company accounts.

Because i will be in my 40s, what kind of visa would i be looking to obtain? Can a business that i set up give me a work permit or is all this setting up of businesses with my name tied to them not worth the hastle if we have a relationship breakdown?

When we move to LOS, i want to be busy, i want to be working and earning. I fit kitchens in this country so there is not much call for me in Thailand. This is why the business route is appealing.

Please, any addvice would be greatfully received.

You can but this company would need to file annual audit May 30th 2008 and half year report on August 30th 2008 , even if its not trading.

They do not

You need to get a multi entry non immigrant visa. Later after you settle down and have a work permit, you can apply for a extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai and that you are making 40K Baht per month. This is after you have been working for three months and have three months of PND #1 ( Withholding tax filing)

You can get a work permit. The registered capital only needs to be one million Baht as you are married to a Thai. Many people that have had relationship breakdowns, wish they had set everything up proper so they get something out of the business rather than nothing.
