Singaporean/Malaysian grocery in BKK?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm coming to BKK for a few weeks from upcountry, and was hoping to stock up on some nonperishables (curry sauces, etc) that I can't get locally.

Does anyone know of any good Singaporean or Malaysian grocery shops in BKK?

Looking particularly for some Sambal Nasi Lemak, which I'm hoping I have more of a chance to find in BKK.

Thank you

You might send a query over to the owner of the Samalacha Cafe ....he's a really friendly guy who makes Singaporean and Malaysian food in his restaurant.

Time to change your diet, see how obese the Malaysians are. I avoid palm oil like I avoid most highly processed cooking oil. I use very little processed oil like sunflower oil, I mostly use olive oil (virgin) Anyway good luck to you. By the way after I changed my oil in my diet I became healthy no more headache, listless(no energy) tired, skin itch.

What possible reason could you have to post this drivel ? This is not a health thread but a thread about where to find Malaysian food.

Yes, you are right. But my conscience and sympathy just overwhelm me when I see Malaysians suffer. I just want to spread awareness that's all , no agenda. I don't sell olive oil ok? In Europe people are so careful with the cooking oil they are using and also read all the small print on package to avoid hydrogenated vegetable oil. It  kills in an insidious way, very slowly, creating havoc with other organs of your body. Good luck, have a nice day.

Thank heavens you are around to save all the Malaysians from a horrible fate. Do you limit your good deeds to just saving Malaysians or do you also save Thais, Affricans, Indians, etc ?

Time to change your diet...

Thanks, mate. Buut... I can't really respond without sounding arrogant or egotistical... Suffice to say, careful not to make assumptions on a person's diet, fitness level, or health level.

Oh... and I'm not Malaysian... or Singaporean... or suffer any of the ailments that you described. Glad you have overcome them though.

tonray, tried contacting that shop. Unfortunately they don't sell it (other than to eat on the day), or know where I can get it. The search continues!

Oh, I save all the lost souls, sometimes I hallucinated & thought I was jesus christ you know, then I became afraid that some Judaism Rabbis would bribe the Romans to nail me to the tree so I stay home for days to avoid those Romans.

I don't condemn Malaysian foods or Singapore foods, the problem is when you choose the wrong Malaysian foods. There are some healthy Malaysian foods not a lot though.

Once you get used to eating healthy foods you no longer crave for those famous talked about foods, e.g. the famous Malaysian curry prawn noodles, the famous yummy Singapore Chicken rice. The list goes on.......

If you don't read up on nutrition you will probably suffer later in life when you get older, that's when the damage has reached the level where damage control is too late it also affects your mental health especially when you look into the mirror what do you see? What a huge tummy ! Depression comes in the front door now, depression was using the back door you didn't see it coming now it comes in the front door.

When you feel healthy & happy because you have left "The Seas of Sufferings" (in buddhist parlance) you wish others can also be healthy and happy. Ignorance is the cause of all sufferings. (another buddhist saying- I am a hardcore buddhist )

Well, for a start avoid all white flour products- if only the world can stop eating wheat products it would be a better place. Just try not eating it for month and see the difference

you will be surprised. You will start thinking this wheat flour industry is trying to kill us all.

You will no longer crave for the wrong foods, everything falls in place. Depression no longer knocks on your door again. Just cooking simple foods at home makes you happy.

You're evidently suffering. And the reason is you haven't yet tried McD's Classic Angus Beef Burger with Party Size Fries. Freakin awesome! You shall be transported instantaneously to a state of happiness even the Buddha never knew. Check it out now, ma man. You can order delivery at 1711.

Trust me you'll be out and about singing and dancing and not sitting at your terminal looking for someone to talk to on TV.

I don't even go inside Macdonald so this McD's Classic Angus beef Burger is something new to me.

I can do Macdonald a favor if they give me a Angus beef Burger for free. I am reluctant to eat it but I will do them a favor not that I want some freebies you know. I am not a cheap charlie.

If Macdonald can convince me a vegetarian buddhist to eat this beef burger then it would be great advertising for them that's the favor I am doing for them.  May be I can't finish eating the whole burger but I will try. I really would have to stuff it down my throat I guess.

Mate, I appreciate that you have found your passion, but it really isn't welcome.

I'd prefer it if you didn't rudely come and hijack my thread and potentially (really, almost certainly) prevent me from getting any answer to my question.

You are giving me two options if I am to respond: be arrogant, or be rude. Guess I'll do both. You are looking like an ass, not just because you are promoting your dogma of what makes a healthy lifestyle, but because of who you are promoting it to. You know nothing of my overall health, fitness level, physique, etc., but you come here telling me that I have to wisen up. Without meeting you I can be confident in telling you that statistically I am in all ways an Adonis by comparison, so keep quiet and let me assume you are ignorant, instead of hijacking my thread and guaranteeing me that you are stupid!

Anyone else who has managed to get down here, still looking for some Malaysian groceries while in Bangkok if you know of any place to go. :)

I just bought currysauce from Japan at the Makro, they had so much of it (also indian and so) that i had to try it.

But i know a malaysian grocery stand at the big market next to Central Ratanatibet, every night in the weekend after 6 pm untill very late i guess.

It is under the big roof, inbetween all the foodstands (the marketstands).

And for cookingoil you better use coconutoil, at least that's what we do.
