webfact
Thai SEA Games medal winners disqualified By The Nation Two Thai athletes including a gold medalist in pencak silat failed B sample doping tests from the August’s SEA Games which disqualified them from the medals. Two Thai athletes, including a gold medallist in pencak silat, failed B sample doping tests at the SEA Games held in Kuala Lumpur in August, which has led to them being stripped of their medals. SEA Games Federation president Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar on Tuesday confirmed that Nurisan from the pencak silat women’s seni team and Benjaporn Sriphanomthorn, who won a silver medal in the women’s 10km marathon swimming event, had been disqualified. Malaysian diver Wendy Ng Yan Yee has also been disqualified following tests conducted during the Games four months ago. The disqualification of Nurisan would mean her teammates Asma Jehma and Asma Wanchitnai will also be stripped of the gold medal won by the women’s seni team. The Vietnamese team, which originally won the silver, will be awarded the gold medals. Despite the disqualification, Thailand would remain second in the Games overall medal tally with 71 gold (down from 72), 84 silver and 88 bronze, behind overall winners Malaysia, who won 144 gold. DoctorG
How would you like to be the drug-taking team member who caused the other members to lose their gold medals? Popular? Probably not.

Probably some kind of steroids or other performance enhancing drugs, unlikely to be recreational drugs like yabaa as they would diminish the athletes capacity. I don't see it that way, steroids are taken by many who are in sports, its just that some are better at not getting caught then others. This certainly is not a Thai thing. Also if I take steroids now and stop a bit before the event they could never find it and i still had some of the extra strength left. There is no real level playingfield. manarak
doping in sports poses an interesting philosophical question, because today we know that training and talent alone don't enable athletes to win at the highest level. many non-doped top athletes' body features some kind of mutation or anomaly that *naturally* enhances their performance beyond what people without such mutation can attain. http://s4perf.fr/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Eighty-percent-of-French-sport-winners-in-Olympic.pdf what is fairness ? There is no real level playingfield. There's an extremely comprehensive list of banned substances...including many steroidal pharmaceuticals.... To be nabbed nowadays is quite stupid. To be nabbed whilst representing your country is reprehensible. Definitely not just a Thai issue.
Briggsy
Sibutramine both of them. Appetite suppressant which also suppresses the body's slowing of metabolism with calorie deficit. It greatly assists in getting body fat down to low levels. Obviously good in endurance sport. With the pencak silat athlete it would have been helpful in meeting the weight limit without loss of muscle mass.

I have used it in the past to try to get to low bodyfat. It did not help me that much as it made sleeping hard for me (not an usual side effect). Also it did hep to lower my appetite but I am not sure if it suppresses the slowing of metabolism. I stopped with sibutramine quite fast as i value my sleep and being awake at night is something i hate.

Just like many others and in Russia its even worse plus Lance Armstrong the American hero used too. Problem is that its too easy to beat tests so there will never be a fair level playing field. Not saying I condone the use of these things for athletes that compete. Just saying it happens all over the world and is far worse in other places then in Thailand. I don't think that letting people use those drugs to compete is a good idea either as it would encourage people to use more and more thus endangering their health. I just don't believe that there are many really clean top athletes. Because people are not tested off season so who knows what has been used before. Only problem is people couldn't stop cheating in a "clean" games.
