Gun-making prisoners to be given army jobs

Gun-making prisoners to be given army jobs

By The Nation

The government has approved 33 posts in the army for selected prison inmates who have been convicted of making home-made guns or modifying illegal firearms, Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister ACM Prajin Juntong said Saturday.

Prajin said 70 inmates who have been convicted of making guns or modifying gun-like objects have been selected to receive training to improve their skills. Of them, 33 will be selected for new jobs in the Royal Thai Army, Prajin said. Twenty will work as technicians while the other 13 will be designated service providers.

Prajin said the scheme was part of a Justice Ministry project to return inmates as “good people” to society. Under the project, the ministry tries to find jobs for released prisoners to meet their skills, or to find them work near their houses.

For example, the ministry will try to find some inmates jobs in hotels.

It is, IMHO, mportant to rehabilitate offenders. However, in this case, I fear the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

Fantastic idea!

Now let's drive this further and put up released embezzlers and pyramid scheme operators as managers at the Government Savings Bank, give released drug couriers and dealers positions at the Commerce Ministry, set up scam artists at the Tourism Ministry and make rapists counselors at the Social Development Ministry. Nobody will notice because the state apparatus has traditionally been full of criminals anyway.

They all have great resume's that fit their new employer.

So....just a question..... after you have improved their gun making skills who

are the gun makers who you don't give jobs to going to make guns for. :whistling:

Well, I don't think they'll have any trouble fitting in.

Will they later be beaten to death?

A warped form of capital punishment?

Good point.

However, if they really are going to train people up and employ them, I have to say it’s a good idea.

I hope it succeeds.

Maybe all of those in prison for drugs can find openings in the pharmaceutical industry too. Drug problem solved!

Wow Great idea, to increase violence with more violence...

It’s heart warming to see these “good people” from jail helping build weapons for the other “good people” from the army currently running the country.

A marriage made in heaven.

Well, as the adagio is to catch thieves with thieves.......

On the other hand, as they were already in the gun business, so to say, and versed in working with weapons, the idea to employ them in the same business, so to say, is not a bad one, really.

If it will work out as hoped?

Yeah, as guinea pigs hopefully! :sleepy:

Rediculous idea. Next thing they’ll announce is to give all convicted rapists currently in prison sex education classes so that, at least when they are released, they will be able to get a job as sex therapists!!!

well done Thai government for these hair brained schemes, long may you reign as your all such a credit to thailand!!!!!!!!!

pure perfection, thai style

I fear many cadets suffering heart failure and the bullet wounds had nothing to do with it.

When an airplane crashed in Long Island NY the theory was that it was mistakenly shot down by a missile used in nearby naval exercises.  When the final accident cause report came out, the government concluded that   the cause was a frayed wire in one of the wings.

The jock circulating was " The plane crashed because of a frayed wire. The wire was frayed by a missile hitting the wing"

I think a bit of the same here.

Why not give burglars lock smithing courses?   Just not near where I live.

NIMBY.

None of them are being given jobs as gun makers.  You don't really think that the army makes it's own guns, do you?

...............and so it begins.
