Hi

My child will be born in a month in Australia. Im Australian and the father is Thai. He will be coming for the birth on a 3 month visa. In that time we will need to get our baby a thai birth certificate and passport.

Can we do this in Melbourne?

How long does it take to get a thai birth ceriticate?

Can we apply for thai passport in Phuket instead of Australia? As we may not have enough time.

If we get a passport in phuket do we need to exit on Australian passport and return on a Thai passport?

We will be getting aussie birth certificate and passport AS soon as she born main priority.

The Thai birth certificate can only be applied for at the embassy in Canberra or the official   consulate in Sydney. Melbourne is a honorary consulate and cannot do it.

Info for doing the applications is here. http://canberra.thaiembassy.org/Home/thaibirthcertificate

As far as I know the birth certificate is done while you wait.

If at all possible it would be best to get the passport while in Australia. From application it takes 3 to 5 weeks according to the embassy website.

In order to apply for the passport here will require them to get a Thai ID number and be registered in a house book.

After getting the passport here it would require flying out and back to use it.
