PHUKET:-- The Airports of Thailand (AoT) has reported that it expects more than 60,760 passengers a day to pass through Phuket International Airport over the New Year period.

However, officials say they are well prepared for the influx of passengers.

AoT operates Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang international airports in Bangkok; as well as the international airports in Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Chiang Rai.

Hopefully, there won't be any  leaks as in the domestic terminal !!

" However, officials say they are well prepared for the influx of passengers."

i await the inevitable story of the four hour delay at immigration.

Quite a difference between what the airport is prepared for and actual staffing at immigration counters to have them fully manned when a lot of flights arrive. It seems immigration doesn't really give a flying  &*&* about people waiting in the immigration queue.

i await the inevitable story of the four hour delay at immigration.

Arrived at Phuket Int airport on Wed at 9pm, Jan 10th, on a full Boeing 787 and we had to wait 45 mins by circling the island, to allow for a thunderstorm to clear away, this with a few other planes, the captain said. So I was expecting LONG delays when we landed.

However there were around 12 counters (perhaps more) open at immigration and despite the hordes of people, it took around 10 to 15 mins to clear, and despite long queues at the customs xray machines, I got through in under 10 mins.

All in all I thought it was very efficient. Well done to the Airport staff.
