Police and soldiers yesterday (Dec 21) arrested a secondary education school teacher in Bung Kan province after several firearms and ammunition were found in his home in So Phisai district.

The teacher was identified as Uthis Meetaowal, 53, a teacher on military education and training at Ponthong Prachasan school at Tambon Nong Panta in So Phisai district.

The search of his home followed complaints by neighbours that they heard gunshot sounds daily at the compound of his home in the rubber plantation.

Exactly where do they get these weapons??? There's no Walmart in Thailand.

Not surprising he had weapons then.

I thought, when I read the headline, he was working in a particularly tough school.

He lives in a tough neighbourhood.

They were all part of the lesson?

From the military obviously that is where guns come from.

LOL, years ago I lived in Thailand's South. I had a girlfriend, whose parents were both teachers at government schools. Having a good and stable income, they lent out money to several people. If the debtors didn't repay the money on time, the creditors picked up a few handguns at home (they collected them), went to the debtors home and asked them point-blank to pay back the money. T.i.T!

Some collect guns some collect watches all perfectly normal here .

Ought to claim he took them off the students. Over the years of teaching, I had several students later caught with guns, but that was USA, so not unexpected.

Quite surprised that army spokesman Sansern didn't put a red shirt spin on this one.

Give it time. I am sure that someone on this forum will put that idea forward!
