Drug box abandoned at airport

Police are searching for a foreigner suspected to be the owner of a black box found in front of Phnom Penh International Airport on Saturday with more than 400 pieces of dried marijuana inside.

 

Touch Vibol, a Por Senchey district police officer, said the box was found in the gardens in front of the airport. Mr Vibol said witnesses sitting in the garden saw a foreigner leave the box in the garden and then head into the airport.

 

“Our investigation shows the suspect wanted to bring the drugs by air to his country, but was afraid the suitcase would be X-rayed and reveal the drugs, leading him to abandon it in front of the airport and flee,” he said. Police are still trying to discover the suspect’s identity.

That would be an interesting investigation as the airport also serves domestic flights.

Maybe the witnesses saw the individual go to a specific check-in counter? But no such details in the article.

Why are they looking for him now? 

 

He didn't try to smuggle them out of the country and now he can't even be charged with "Possession". Seems to me there are a lot more real ones to go after and not ones who changed there minds. Out of sight then out of mind.
