Can I renew O-A visa earlier than due date?

Featured Replies

My OA needs to be renewed on 8 Feb. For various reasons I want to do it earlier (say, 15 Jan). Is this ok?

thanks, Glen

Although the OP states renew OA, I assume the OP really means renew Permitted to Stay for one year for retirement reason (extension of stay.) This can be done prior to the current permitted to stay date and most immigration office allow one to apply 30 days prior to the actual date. Some offices even allow one to apply 45 days prior. If the OP actually has an OA visa then a trip outside Thailand and return will extend the permitted to stay period.

A OA long stay visa can only be applied for at a embassy or consulate in your home country or country of legal residence. In reality there is no one year retirement visa but the OA visa is close to being called that.

You apparently have a one year extension of stay based upon retirement you applied for at a immigration office. You can apply for a new one up to 30 days or 45 days at some offices before your current one ends.
