Fallen power pole causes blackout

PATTAYA:--A South Pattaya street was blacked out after a utility pole fell during a Boxing Day storm.

Witnesses said the post on Soi Day-Night already was worn out but after a rain storm, it fell over and caused a blackout in the area. No one was injured.

Provincial Electricity Authority workers restored power later Dec. 26.

Bill Gates missed this one.....

There's one cracked by a drunk Thai driver outside our mooban.  Elec board have been notified (six months & counting).  They will fit a new pole when all phone lines have been removed.  Phone companies say there are none.  Watch this space - it towers precariously over a Dutch owned house and our guard hut.

well if phone companies say there are not theirs then suggest PEA pin notice to the pole informing everybody that the pole will be replaced in 14 days and all cables will be cut...

Chance many a redundant since a lot of people who had house phones no longer use as many now use mobiles instead also probably when a cable fails they run new cable but do not remove the old cable.
