Savannakhet marraige visa requirements

Recommended Posts

Hello and happy new year to all,

I got a one year multi entry O visa at Savannakhet in 2016 as I have a Thai wife. I would like to go there for another one as it was a fairly simple procedure then.

Can anybody tell me what documents are currently required and whether proof of funds are still not required to get this visa there?

Thanks for any help,

ScoThaiOz.

I just arrived back from savvannakhet and despite having multiple red stamps and an overstay by 7 days I had no issue getting a Non O with the paperwork mentioned above. The embassy doesnt except Kip so make sure you have 5k in Baht and haggle with the tuks tuks outside the embassy as they will rip you off left and right..

And if you do any long bus trips do not book a sleeper unless you like spooning with some  random local as the width is shoulder to shoulder and not designed for anyone over 5'9. Didnt get a wink of sleep.

No need for m/c taxi,

Bus from Mukdahan is around 60bht and stops at every point you need apart from the Thai consulate, but the bus station is only 250m from the Thai consulate.,

I found the height-issue to be a problem on the "Transport Company" VIP buses from MorChit to Mukdahan.  They look nice/clean, but the seat "recline" function is to move the seat forward towards the seat in front, and there simply isn't room for longer legs.  I have slept very well on the Sapaphan VIP bus, however, which had normal VIP seats, which recline properly.

In all cases, since the seats on a "real" VIP are 3 + 1, select a seat by itself, if traveling alone.  If no 3+1 seated VIP is available for some reason, then buying two tickets is the only good option.  Note that "Yellow Bus" so-called "VIP" buses are *not* 3+1 on their Pattaya to Mukdahan route, so better to route through MorChit Bangkok, where real VIP buses are available.
