SpokaneAl Posted January 6, 2018 Share Posted January 6, 2018 A family of six of us - me as the foreigner and the rest are Thai adults with passports, are looking to visit Angkor Wat in March 2018. We are looking at driving our private vehicle to Chong Chom. I understand that there are secure car parks, for a price that will store our car safely. We would then walk across the border, I would purchase the necessary visa, and we would use a Seim Reap hotel transportation to get us to our hotel, where, hopefully, we can arrange a tour driver and car to show us the sights. We are planning on four nights in Seim Reap, and returning to the border via the hotel transport. When Googling the info, it looks like about three hours of driving to the border and another two hours from the border to a hotel. Jip99 Posted January 6, 2018 Share Posted January 6, 2018 Your research is about right. Parking is easy (then 10 Baht motorcy taxi to the border or 300 m walk). Are you sure a hotel will pick you up ? Not come across that before. A private minibus will be circa $85/90 each way. A decent 3 star hotel with pool will be $40/50 per night. I personally prefer visiting the temples by tuk-tuk rather than car or minibus. Recommend The Haven Training restaurant for a meal one night. Beers @ 50c a glass in Pub St are a must and perhaps a Tomb Raider cocktail at the Red Piano bar. Oodles of things to do depending on your tastes and budget. Your visa fee should be $30, they may try for 1,500 Baht, perhaps be prepared to hand over $35... phuketrichard Posted January 7, 2018 Share Posted January 7, 2018 (edited) why not drive into Cambodia with your car?very easy. also than u can visit Banteay Chhmer on ur way to Siem Rep OR if ur dead set on using the hotel van ask them to add on a visit to BC, well worth it to see the temples with ZERO other tourists. Only adds about 3 hours to the day traveling Visa is ONLY $30 But make sure u have a photo and DONT let someone tell u that u need them to help you, The border is very low key Thai's get 30 day visa exempt. no visa needed.
