Non-B Status Change

Featured Replies

Seeking help with the following:

If you leave a job under a Non-B visa, prior to work permit status, and you have the better part of your three months of the Non-B, what happens;

a. Is the three months reduced?

b. If so, can you revert your visa status to a tourist to remain in Thailand, if needs must?

c. Presumably this will require a visa-run from outside the country?

d. Do any of your previous tourist visa stays effect reverting back again i.e Do you start again?

Thank you.

a. No You can stay until your 90 day entry ends.

b/c. You can leave the country get a tourist visa without a problem.

d. Having a non-b visa does not reset the number of tourist visas you got before.

Only if he had an extension of stay based upon working. He has a 90 day entry from a non-b visa that does not end when the job ends.

Also there is no 7 days to leave the country unless you apply for an extension, pay 1900 baht to get the 7 days.

Thank you. Indeed mine is not an extension. Interestingly my previous manager is saying the opposite ("it expires on 18th Jan"). Regrading b/c should I need that at some point; I had x 2 tourist visa extensions plus a 3rd seven day extension before obtaining the non-b. If it's not reset, is there a limit...would I get an additional stamp with no problems?

How many tourist visas have you applied for previously at nearby locations and where.

The embassies and consulates do not count extensions obtained at immigration against getting another tourist visa.

What kind of stamp are you asking about?

Following my arrival, I obtained x 2 extensions all within Thailand at the local immigration office (Surat Thani). The final 7-day extension I was told was my last, at that point. I obtained the non-b before that expired.

My line of enquiry is about biding time should there be delays in landing a second job. Hope that makes sense and thank you!

You can only get 7 days to leave the country after applying for an extension of your current 90 day entry.

Your best option is to go out for a single entry tourist visa.
