snoop1130
Pra Khanong massage parlour raided for sex trafficking By The Nation The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) joined with the Army and police to raid a massage parlour in Bangkok’s Rama 9 area on Friday over allegations of human trafficking and prostitution of girls under 18. DSI deputy chief Pol Colonel Songsak Raksaksakul led DSI officers, soldiers and administrative officials in a raid of “Victoria’s: The Secret Forever” massage parlour – with an arrest warrant for a man identified as “Kob”. The operation was also backed by a warrant to search the premises for Kob, who reportedly worked there as an “enticer”, and to gather related incriminated evidence. It remained unclear whether the suspect was taken into custody in the raid. The case stemmed from a previous complaint by Alliance Anti Traffic (AAT), which had rescued a Myanmar girl under 18 who had been lured into prostitution at the age of 12. DSI had taken up the case investigation last year as the case reportedly linked criminals in Thailand, Myanmar and Malaysia who preyed on girls under 18. It was alleged the gang had recruited virgin underage girls from outside Thailand to provide sex services. The girls were then sent to perform sex work at the Bangkok massage parlour – a form of human trafficking. The ongoing case investigation had identified seven suspects now covered by court-ordered arrest warrants, including Kob. Sparkles
Many girls choose to work at massage palaces as its relatively easy money for them, they are not imprisoned, just seen as an positive alternative to a low paying job at 7/11, supermarket or a factory. Cherry picking one parlour is just a PR exercise,if they were serious,as prostitution is illegal they could close every parlour /brothel but there's a cash flow involved which some are reluctant to lose out on. spidermike007
If this is truly an act, that was intended as part of the battle against human trafficking, and underage sex, that is a good thing, and the government is to be commended for this. However, one tends to be skeptical when it comes to this administration, as their fight against human trafficking has been weak and dismal. When was the last time a current, high ranking member of the army or the administration was charged, and imprisoned for being complicit in this ongoing national tragedy? It happens everywhere in the world. In the UK underage white girls have been targeted in their thousands by certain in immigrant groups. In the USA trafficked girls are branded and tattooed to make their ownership clear. In the USA the trafficking of girls is the speciality of Black pimps and Mexican gangs. This issue is not really a speciffically Thai problem at all.
PerkinsCuthbert
So there was a warrant only for "Kob the Enticer"? That makes sense, the owner will have no doubt been pre-notified of the media event, given his rank.

Indeed some ladies, transsexuals and homosexuals choose to become either full-time or part-time sex workers for the money. But somehow I don't imagine 12 year old virgins making that choice do you? Not imprisoned - sure they can leave anytime. Into a foreign country where they don't speak the language, without their passport or money etc. Wise up. The sex trade is fraught with crime, trafficking and scams as well as escorts and professionals trying to make some extra cash. And it will be unless it's legalized, regulated and managed. In the meantime, well done to the Thai authorities for closing one apparent exploiting trafficking establishment. Or has it more to do with an open market of human primitive biological urges that can easily be converted into a cash.

I doubt the information that a 12 years old was involved in this case , makes a good emotional headline. Phedophiles dont go looking for children in massage parlours. Its also wel known that som eparents have been known to sell their children. Witnessed that at first hand in the Philippines Of course criminal activity is drawn to the industry always has, always will be as is illegal gambling which is rife in this country Prostitution will never be legalised in Thailand, anyone who thinks this will happen is dreaming

Buying a beer would not have any consequences, but fondling, kissing etc.. an underage person, can lead to jail sentences here and/or your country of origin. Quite rightly in my opinion, error of judgment should not be an excuse.

There are numerous reports of police raids finding underage ladies working in brothels. Not sure on what rationale you doubt this report. In many cases young girls are made to look older to cater for punters in the massage parlor industry rather than being targeted to the pedophile degenerates. Child exploitation by parents is a sad phenomenon. The Philippines is a cesspit but escapes the stigma it ought to attract. Any illegal activity draws criminals by it's nature of being criminal. I didn't write I expected Thailand to legalize prostitution. I stated that legalizing prostitution is the only way to reduce the criminal element. You are absolutely correct......... I think you understand Thailand and it's graft ridden police............. It is a 'game' of trying to maximize the 'cops' unreported income while at the same time trying to 'fool' the NGO's into believing they (the cops) are doing a 'good job', and the NGO's have even 'Paid the cops (on the side - as rewards)' for the 'good work' they done..............
