Motorcycle Stand

OK I was going to suggest a DIY Harley type but your exhausts look like it will get in the way. Maybe a rear wheel stand would work better? There are some around at local tool shops for about 1500-1800 baht.

I wouldn't mind one of those, but if all else fails I took a hydraulic bottle jack and welded a "v" on the top. I use it in conjunction with the side stand, I can remove the front wheel, rear wheel or lubricate the chain.

One of those would give me more height and be more stable, so be interested to follow this thread, they are about £40 in the UK.

I was browsing around and saw this website ... http://www.thailandoffroad.com/veerapat/main2.asp?g_type=2

Scroll half way down the page and there are several lifts/jacks.

Phone and email details at the bottom of the page - worth a call?

Thanks chickenslegs. They remind me of Harbor Freight in the USA. I like this lift. Will give them a call.

Sorry. Neither this, nor the above one in the pic will work with your bike whilst you have the underslung exhausts. It will lift, but all on the pipes, which ain't good.

Suggest; front and rear wheel stands.

Or Allan B's idea will work using the s/stand.

Sorry, I posted the wrong link. This is the correct one, showing several different jacks/lifts ... http://www.thailandoffroad.com/veerapat/main2.asp?g_type=2

Not exactly a bike lift true to the word but easily modified and in Thailand. I found a Thai site before for bike lifts but cannot find it again....

Thanks but 27,500 baht is a little over my budget.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have 4 bikes and I know how each one likes to be lifted to get a wheel off the ground using a side stand and a trolley jack.

However, recently I worked on a different bike (vintage/classic 500cc) for someone, and using the above with various blocks of wood proved a royal pain in the butt.

Also, my two ty250 Mono's  I've always just hoiked (85 kgs) onto a s/s stool, then got another person to stick a bit of 4x2" wood under to just lift a wheel off the ground.

This thread realized I needed to be more proficient, professional, and comfortable working by myself without a 2nd pair of hands needed.

Googled images of stands and lifts and DIY versions of.

So off to the local auto parts store, had bottle jacks in stock, but I wanted scissor jacks. Ordered 2 @ 300 baht each, nice, small (Yaris/Jazz suitability), BZP silver. Perfick. A look in my scrap steel and alloy stock, an afternoon with the welder, grinder and shearer, a spray with a rattle can, an offcut of an old D-Max floor mat, and I ended up with these. Total cost 600 baht and 4-5 hours of my time.

The jack to be used in conjunction with a s/stand has interchangeable fittings and more could be made to suit different applications as and when needed.

Hope this gives someone an idea to make a custom lift, modified to suit your application, vees or cut out tube instead of a flat platform in the OP's case etc.

I doubt a fab shop would charge more than 4-500 baht to knock something up similar if you supplied the scissor jack and they the labour and materials.

This one is a little like yours. They want 900 baht. Think I will order it.

Be aware it looks like it will lift on your pipes. That's the problem with underslung pipes. I would look at modifying something to pick up on your bottom frame tubes. Not easy.
